"Kuih semperit" is a traditional Malaysian cookie, usually served during festivals like Hari Raya. However, my aunt used to make these during Chinese New Year too, and, every Chinese New Year, I look forward to savouring these pretty little golden yellow biscuits, which are made with cornflour to give it a melt-in-your-mouth texture and custard powder for the golden yellow colour.

They look almost too pretty to eat - that is, until you sink your teeth into one, and then it doesn't matter how pretty they are. ;)
